Master (MSc) in Computer Science Engineering at Ghent University
After my bachelor, I wanted to go further in computer science. Following my first internship at In The Pocket, where I got a first taste of machine learning in practice, I started the Master of Computer Science Engineering at Ghent University. I took courses on machine learning, security, distributed systems and more, building the technical foundation I still rely on today.
The master was about much more than courses. A lot of what shaped me happened next to the lecture halls, and each of those experiences has its own post on this site.
First master year
In my first year I took an elective on sustainable computer architecture, which let me follow a passion of mine: how the way we design hardware and software determines the energy it consumes, and how to make computing more sustainable.
I was also selected for the Innovation for Society excellence program, where I worked with engineers from other disciplines on a case about racial bias in facial recognition.
Second master year
In my second year I went on exchange to Polytechnique Montréal and worked as a job student at the logistics start-up Optioryx, improving their bin-packing algorithms.
I closed the degree with my thesis on modelling immersion with physiological data, and graduated cum laude.
